given a "fuck off" the bad organization, enjoy the event and celebrate with us the history of computerchess for last time, even don't look for the result of your engine, just haven fun there :)

It is not really about the competition this time. Would love to see all Founders participating @Santiago.

The WCCC organizers decided to keep ShashChess among participants, so we are withdrawing from the competition. True?
i hear something different, that all will not to play if ShashChess is not playing.
so i did not understand this decision at the moment and why, they have a very strong Lc0 that can possible beat ShashChess.
From Lc0 discord - I can confirm.

Just a small update on our participation in WCCC.

An engine like LC0 that needs a TOP GPU to perform decently isn't interesting anyway for the average user, when I can have good performances using Stockfish even on a Raspberry PI4.

Same for Rebel 16.3 that still uses 1 thread on the released version because it is unstable and Torch that is available only to rating lists, in a version different from the one on Chess.com

We will not miss them... Go Shashchess, open source based on Stockfish, a gift for the delight of all chess engines fans

Correct, it will be about speeches about the greatness while it wasn't always that great at all, no thank you.

Well, see it as a chance to make peace with the past, or alike.

You can't please everyone, so you have to make some compromises.

I wish the community could honor the computerchess pioneers. Without the hard work of the many programmers computerchess would not make fun.

We should celebrate computerchess.

Maybe computerchess is part of the well-ordered existence of the universe.

And by doing computerchess the programmers helped to increase negative entropy.

IMO it was worth any Minute, any version, any day of programming.

I was on Talkchess to learn from geniuses like Dr. Robert M. Hyatt and Richard Lang, but I have heard only the noise of minor developers made completely blind by their egos.

so many pioneers have left the building.
it brings tears in my eyes.

we cannot interview jan louwmann anymore or wolfgang delmare.
we cannot tell don daily how much komodo meant to us.
we cannot tell david broughton how much sci sys MKV made to us.

we can try to remember the past.
and to honor the pioneers.

IMO, and that is really only MY opinion, you can have any other, we should tell our idols how much we believe in them as long as they live.
and this goes directly to
ed schroeder, chrilly donninger, frans morsch, ulf rathsmann, thomas nitsche + elmar henne, marty hirsch, martin bryant, richard lang, kaare danielson, vincent diepeven, markus gillgasch, ulrich tuerke, gerd isenberg, werner koch, john stanback, chris whittington, christophe theron, mark uniacke, wim rens, johan de koning, ron nelson, dan+kathe spracklen, david kittinger, ..... bob hyatt, david levy, ....

i thought the championship in spain honors these people.
because they are the people who made our hobby.

Hmm, would be nice if ICGA finds a way to get "the new kids on the block" in the boat too, Stockfish, Lc0, it is their hobby/passion too...
