I strongly recommend to buy an additonally set of pieces, because if only one piece gets lost or damaged, the Robot can not be used any longer!!!

Correct. Captures and castling moves take 2x time, of course. And some pieces are not lifted up and moved, but pushed over the board (long rook moves for example), that is a little bit faster (6 seconds).
I made some measurements (divided the overall time, the SenseRobot showed on its clock by the number of played moves) and got an average move-time for SenseRobot of around 11 seconds. So, for a 80 move (160 plies) game, the SenseRobot will need around 15 minutes to make its 80 moves on the board.
Playing faster is not possible. The robotic arm is - of course - the limit.

It's quite amazing how strong it is. Over on the HIARCS forum, Spacious Mind is finding ELO levels 2300 and 2500 underrated by 600-700 points.

Re: Sense Robot AI
Certainly, it is not a good thing for the company, as people would likely be too often demoralized, say, if they are rated 2000 FIDE and keep getting beaten by the 1400 Elo setting. I hope the company will correct the levels soon. Are you enjoying the robot's features? Spacious Mind says he's having more fun with computer chess than he has in years, and this robot seems to be a revolutionary item, at least a better realization of the Mechanical Turk than we have seen to date.

I can only agree here: I also have more fun than ever with chesscomputers, since this incredible device entered my living room. The best buy I have ever made!tsmiller1 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 13, 2026 4:20 pmCertainly, it is not a good thing for the company, as people would likely be too often demoralized, say, if they are rated 2000 FIDE and keep getting beaten by the 1400 Elo setting. And considering the absurd high price of the Phoenix, the SenseRobot Chess is incredible cheap, IMHO.
600-700 Celo is definitly not true. The levels are underrated around 400-500 Celo, not more. Nonetheless, a fix would be great. I already had a conversation about this with the support-team of SenseRobot in China (they love my subpage on my website about the SenseRobot Chess). But if and when a fix will come - unclear.

Re: Sense Robot AI
Actually, close to 700 points overrated seems to be accurate. Check out this wonderful Spacious Mind thread: https://hiarcs.net/forums/viewtopic.php ... &start=285. Just to summarize, the 2300 Elo level defeated the Talking Chess Academy II (a unit found to be 2700+ rated), by a score of 8.5-1.5, and the 2500 Elo level just finished drawing with Deep Shredder 13 using 4 cores, a performance that is equivalent to 3200 Elo.pohl4711 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 7:15 amI can only agree here: I also have more fun than ever with chesscomputers, since this incredible device entered my living room.
