Hi all,
I have updated my Mar del Plata testsuite, after the match between Stockfish and Komodo (see: http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=64467). Several less interesting lines were replaced by more exciting ones and I have added some improvements from "Kotronias on the King's Indian Volume 5" as well.

Many people have requested a Ruy Lopez testsuite, so I finally made one. Fifty different Ruy positions for engine-engine testing.

Enjoy testing!

just downloaded. I find your suites really fine.
As you're an expert with openings, I'd ask your opinion here:

I just think 16. .. b4 is a blunder which can't be easily detected by engines. Agreed?

Re: Updated Mar del Plata testsuite, NEW Ruy Lopez testsuite
Hi Rodolfo,
Thanks
.
I am not sure about this line, as I looked at it quite some time ago. This looks like the main line:
[pgn][Event "?"]
[Site "?"]
[Date "????.??.??"]
[Round "?"]
[White "New game"]
[Black "?"]
[Result "*"]
[PlyCount "42"]
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Bg5 e6 7. f4 Be7 8. Qf3
Qc7 9. O-O-O Nbd7 10. g4 b5 11. Bxf6 Nxf6 12. g5 Nd7 13. f5 Nc5 14. f6 gxf6 15.
gxf6 Bf8 16. Rg1 b4 17. Nd5 exd5 18. exd5 Nd7 19. Nc6 Bb7 20. Bh3 Ne5 21. Rge1
Rg8 *[/pgn]
Now 22.Qb3! is the best move, f.e. 22... Bxc6 23.dxc6 Bh6+ 24.Kb1 Rg6 25.Rxe5+! dxe5 26.Qxb4! and I believe black is in bad shape.
Still, quite a difficult line, as white is a rook down and the lines are very, very deep!
Kind regards, Jeroen
Thanks

This line is a trasposition of the line I posted in the link. I agree, black is in bad shape. It could countinue with 26. ..Rxf6 27.Bd7+ Kd8 28.a4 and I think it's +-. The only hope for black should be 28. ..Rb8 29.Qc5 Rd6!? 30.Qxd6 Qxd6 31.Rxd6. trying to complicate the ending.
Thanks again!

There appear to be some significant inaccuracies in the line above. First a minor improvement would be 7. ... Qb6 and then a second one 9. ... h6 rather than Nbd7.Jeroen wrote:Hi Rodolfo,

On move 13 ... Nc5? looks bad. Better is 0-0 Rg1
and the biggest blunder is 16. ... b4?? Better is h5 a3 Rb8
The above is from my IDeA project. Currently at 4337 Quad CPU days analyzing the opening moves using Komodo from 9 to 11.

I agree most of your note. The line until 16.Rg1 is "famous". It's a Scid ECO code, the B99y. In recent years, tournament practice revisited 13. ..Bxg5+ too. In my thread "Does your engine blunder here? I wanted to point the fact many engines tend to play 16. ..b4 which is obviously a blunder.
16. ..h5 17.a3 Qb6 should be the best line.

The analysis gets very thin this deep into the Najdorf. I extended/broadened both lines a bit and indeed 17. ... Qb6 now shows better than Rb8.Rodolfo Leoni wrote:Hi,mbabigian wrote:There appear to be some significant inaccuracies in the line above. First a minor improvement would be 7. ... What does IDeA suggest now? 18.e5 could be interesting, or maybe 18.Rg7.mbabigian wrote: The analysis gets very thin this deep into the Najdorf. I extended/broadened both lines a bit and indeed 17. ... Qb6 now shows better than Rb8.

Re: Updated Mar del Plata testsuite, NEW Ruy Lopez testsuite
The analysis is so light here, I wouldn't put any faith in the scores or best moves. If I pointed all the quads at this position for a few days, it would at least have reasonable ideas, but this line doesn't have much analysis as too many mistakes need to be made to reach it.Rodolfo Leoni wrote:What does IDeA suggest now? 18.e5 could be interesting, or maybe 18.Rg7.mbabigian wrote: The analysis gets very thin this deep into the Najdorf. That said, this is what it says currently.

You haven't been paying attention. The question was if 16... b4 is a bad move. So I gave the main line after the move 16... b4.There appear to be some significant inaccuracies in the line above.
