Rodent 1.3

Post by PK »

is available at http://www.pkoziol.cal24.pl/rodent/rodent_download.htm

it includes source code, opening book and Windows compiles. 32-bit version should work even on XP systems, as it was created using older MSVC compiler. as for Linux version, I must rely on external help.

Rodent 1.3 finally comes with a reasonable capability for creating various style settings (older versions were buggy and rather incomplete, missing parameters for pawn structure, passers and contempt). Perhaps the funniest option to expreriment with is the choice between two almost equivalent king safety functions.

There are two new personalities, Monster (mad attacker, using the alternative king safety function to the utmost) and Grumpy (solid but surprisingly relentless player, modelled after some of my elderly OTB opponents).

As for playing strength, previous version has been beaten by 54,2%. This is mainly due some tuning. LMR and move ordering tweaks (refutation and continuation moves).

have fun!

I enjoy playing your engine a lot, Pawel, and am looking forward to trying the latest version. The Grumpy personality sounds like a lot of fun, given that I've been turning into a grumpy old man the past few years. Thanks for your work!
