Heimdall 1.4.0 played in this tournament with ponder turned off, due to pondering being broken in this version.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney August
LczTinker won the tournament, it's always amazing to see an engine play that strong with just a few thousand nodes/sec.
All the other engine are very close in strength, 5 engines ended with 6 points and 4 with 5.5 points.
Lunar the 'new' engine written in Rust did very well, Isa made a big jump too.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney August
Pretty happy with Lunar's result on this release day!
I'm pretty sure half a point more was on the table; vs. Isa I got a three-fold repetition from my book, and this is after complaining to Isa's author (in one of Graham's live broadcast chats, https://ccrl.live/16070) about this aspect of my book! Some sort of cosmic foreshadowing I'm sure.
Good night all!

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney August
no big jump for Isa (~3.2k CCRL), simply luck - last 2 rounds Lunar got a book draw round 8 and Isa was paired against rpiArminius last round. this is why swiss can be fun. I was running for Dany this time, 16 cores help a bit, too.

i forget yesterday, sorry

"just a few thousand nodes/sec."
That is what i believe too, just need only few nodes to search to get a good evaluation, no matter how much nodes/sec or hardware you use, even with only depth = 1

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney August
I agree, with a perfect evaluation-function you don't need to search at all. A perfect policy-network will give you the winning probability for all moves you can play in a certain position, a 32 piece EGTB would come in handy too.
