(Lack of) moderator team

You three guys are really something else.

Not only do you moderate in most inconsistent ways, you are also obviously fighting each other in the process and feel the need to correct each other all the time :D .

This at a time when besides Graham Banks tournament results we have a daily amount of like 10 messages at most, most of them not demanding any moderation at all.

Are we stuck with you guys now? Or do you intend to get moderation on this board back to normal?

Do you agree that, when a novel poster is subject to unsolicited vile personal attack, locking the thread he started to get some feedback on his engine, while leaving the attacks for everyone to see, and subsequently threatening the attacked person with a ban is not a very good way to attract new posters?

What does this have to do with the topic? do you want to provoke?

It's clearly related when the thread has heavy moderation imposed on it. I want some accountability. Currently we have moderation decisions being made by people that haven't been elected to do so. Note this post dated March 25th that states the FG members are the moderators "for the moment" and "in the near future" an election will be held. Well its been 7 months since then.

The fundraiser contributors that saved this forum were under the impression these elections would be held. It is misleading that they were promised that "in the near future" and then it never occured.

Actually I have been elected as moderator, and since then there have not been any elections to appoint new ones.

Even before there was talk about divorcing this forum from ChessUSA I have made it abundantly clear that you should not look at me (the only admin at that time) for conducting moderator elections, but that if anyone decided on how he wanted to do this, I would be willing to provide the necessary technical support. This has never changed.

Because there was an imminent danger of ChessUSA pulling the plug, and no one appeared willing to prevent disappearence of the forum, I rented a VPS at the last moment, and made it available for hosting TalkChess. As far as I am concerned that was already more than I should have done, and I eagerly look forward to the time where I will be replaced by an elected (and hopefully competent) moderator. But that is up to the membership.

Founders/Moderators team is doing something right IMO, last record was 2020 (NNUE took off) with ~1800 users online.

It is a general trend that people start to retract from social media and post less, and, computer chess faces the death by draw.

Add downvote button and remove moderation

Maybe you copied your stockfish commits from someone else too?
I will look into that.

I see things as quite simple.

The language (and the tone of it) used in many discord channels is not acceptable here.

If members here treat each other in a respectful manner, there is usually no issue.
