Respectful cloning

Post by Viren »

Alexchess is an example of a respectful cloner. Notice how there is no shitting on SF with comments such as:
I can't help it that the SF developers are incapable of creating good analysis engines. - Eduard
He even includes SF in the name of his clones and doesn't claim it as superior to SF. I guess this is why you dont like him?

Thanks. I respect and admire them and I'm very grateful for the incredible work they have done, the quality of the source perfectly written, indented and commented so it can be easily understood. I will release my derivative respecting the GPLv3 (as already done nore times) when it will be meaninful to do that, since I understand that only changing some values is not enought for one more clone. Now that Classical evaluation has been removed con NNUE only, my mods are even less interestings. Crystal by Joseph Ellis, BrainLearn and Shashchess of my friend Prof. Andrea Manzo (we both live in Rome) are my inspiration. No original coding, no release. This is my private toy. :D

There are many other clones that not have SF in their names. e.g. Shashchess, Brainlearn, Cool Iris, Hypnos, Sugar AI, Eman, etc. The authors of these engines are not cheaters. Nevertheless, you despise them and me.

Alexchess cheated on Lichess. I will not budge from that. I have posted games as proof. He also cheated in exactly the same way on PlayChess and was banned forever by the sysop there. His main account there "ProteuSF-official" will never play a chess game on Playchess again. Banned accounts will never be unlocked. The account was paid as premium. No commercial company would ever do something like that if it were not really true and there was no clear evidence. :!:

You don't care about any of that, the main thing is that SF (or something similar) is in the name? I hope you have fun with it. Long live the "FS" sign. Cheating in the name of SF is allowed, with the blessing of the Stockfish developers. Yes?

1) I dont despise all clones, I even helped one on your list. I despise assholes which most clone authors are, yourself included.

2) Notice the word "even". This is used to indicate that it's an additional bonus that its immediately obvious that his engine is a SF clone. Nowhere does it say its required, most other authors opt for others ways to make it immediately clear.

You didnt address the main point about being respectful to those who create what you leech off. No surprises there.

I (also) like how Andrew Grants clearly exposes his toughts, so I do the same. :D

1. Please don't feed the troll. It's is useles. He is spammining every chess forum where he can still post. (Banned from Outskirsts, BanksiaGui, computerSchach und spiele. Almost out from MassimilianoGoi forum. I don't know why moderators don't simply kick off him also from here.

2. I'd like to talk about Lichess.org games and setup, here. If you forward his posts, I'm forced to read them again :( He is on my ignore list everywhere. He has already polluted my previous topic so much that it has been locked!

3. He accuses others of what he is doing EVERYDAY on Playchess and Lichess: FlyngRebel, PowerBeast, Lermerbot and Edobot are all fake siblings / cheating / farming accounts to boost is ELO and EGO (excepted the last one, he has deleted all the others to hidden the evidences) Same on Playchess where he has been banned more times for farming.

4. Cheating? Farming? I simply play against originals like Admete_bot to win GM level games that I use to build my opening books for ProteusSF. Create 200 1+0 Admete_bot rated standard is a standard Terminal command on Lichess.org, then perfectly allowed by the admins there. I have never received a complain by them or even by the original bots authors. ELO race? Is only my personal challenge (like all the other chess variants there) that I use as a benchmark to see how much I can reduce the delta between ProteusSF and the others engines, still winning all the 200 games (not easy at all, you must win up to 24 consecutive games to get 1 single point, Drawing you lose 12 points, if you lose for crash or disconnection you lose up to 30 points!!) Anyway it'is the past. Now I'm playing only Long time games with TOP bots.

What do you want to say?

This has always been there since the first version. That's not enough for the SF developers. I don't care, and that's why it stays that way.
