Code: Select all

1st Priority	lower average of the moves
2nd Priority	Wasp test (2x Wasp on start)
3rd Priority	test-set optimisations (FEOBOS database search)
4th Priority	midgame with time-control manipulation
5th Priority	more short wins, more powerful tactical engines are inside
6th Priority	lower average of the draws
7th Priority	more HCE engines
With this group of 44 engines (one free-place at the moment) I can reduce the move average from ~96 to ~86 moves. I use a very high time control with 66 moves in 66 minutes + 6, the rest of the game in 22 minutes + 2. So I need a low move-average or different games runs the half day.

The lower the move-average the higher the fun-factor in watching the games.

66 in 66 + 6 = A devil tournament, produced a lot of short wins (sure about it).

Best

Hi there,

I have the ma-tournament running here as a test with the time-control 3+1 and 5-man syzygy. Everything works fine and I can see a lot. The idea to use a time control like 66 moves in 66 minutes + rest of the game in 20 minutes + 2 seconds per move was bad. It seems that many engines do not understand it or the time management is bad. So I have to change the conditions again.

The time control will be 66 minutes game + 6 seconds per move.

I have also added a new rule:

*** A new rule ***
After round 03: Engine with highest move average is disqualified for more rounds = 44-1
After round 04: Engine with highest move average is disqualified for more rounds = 43-1
After lap 05: Engine with highest move average is disqualified for more rounds = 42-1
41 engines remain until the end of the tournament = 13,120 games

After that what I can see in the "test-ma-tournament with 5-man and 3+1" ... 7 of the engines are in danger. But all in all the move average is great. Maybe it will go down to less than 86 moves. Thats fantastic with an Elo average from 3280!!

After I start the tournament on 24th December 2023 I will open a new thread with more updated information about conditions and participating engines. But after 3-4 weeks of testing on different PCs the new conditions are ready and the field of engines seems clear to me.

It will be a very nice tournament and I can produce much more fun, very sure about it.

So 10% less engery for the tournament with a fewer move-average ... 86 to 96-moves.
Tourney runs some weeks fewer with the final result: I save energy = more PIZZA are possible and a clearly more fun. So both is important ... the PIZZA and the tourney.

And 10% less ... computing time (for nothing).
And the problem is solved very easy!
Sorry to the programmers are not longer participating ... many great engines are out.
But the long-move-average is an absolutely "NOGO" for me.

For these group of programmers: I play the first tournament to end and produced a nice results for all ... hope so, think so.
