I must not understand the question sorry, Lonnie, it sounds like a bug in Fritz 21? Chessbase says, in the help pages
UCI engines can be used wherever they are, in any folder or any disk on the computer. The configuration files with the extension *.uci are always saved in the folder /Documents and Settings/Username/Application Data/ChessBase/Engines.UCI.
There should be a .UCI file for Chess-Tal-3.0 there. The very first UCI option is the hash setting There is an enormous number of options so the option screens may not display all of them. In the command line if you type UCI + Enter you get to see all the options but I do not know how Chessbase saves the options other than what the Help pages say. Some Chess base buffs here?
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

As you write, Eelco, in .uci- file all to be stored UCI- options, that are shown in corresponding dialog (entry- mask), are (re-) loaded in cb- GUIs, no problem from my side with CST3 neither, (tried only Threads and Book- options) . Hash is an option, that's to be set extra at loading of any cb- engine, if you don't change it, the amount that was set with one but latest loaded engine is set again, as was written already here before. Arena e.g. loads hash- setting with .config, cb doesn't, regards
Peter.

Not enough, which is why its now frozen and subjected to open heart surgery to become CSTal4. Maybe, one day.

I got +75 elo against cst2 (10.000 games) and +75 elo against a pool of 10 engines (15.000 games).
90% of coding is debugging, the other 10% is writing bugs.
