I have just released an updated version of my Colossus Chess engine on my website at
http://www.colossusgames.co.uk
My tests indicate an improvement of about 25 ELO over the previous version.
Changes include bug fixes, minor optimisations, internal iterative reductions, endgame tablebase refinements and a general tidy-up.
Thorsten Czub (who does some testing for me... thanks Thorsten!) pointed out that it is now 50 years since I wrote my first chess program at Manchester university back in 1976! I'm not sure if this is a cause for celebration or should act as a warning to young programmers to avoid the subject altogether
