Some oldies

Post by Elorejano »

Hi!
I need some oldies with ALL the files (opening books, etc)
1) Crafty 15.16
2) TCB of Remi Coulon (in special, Fritz4.pgn book)
3) FireFly with own opening book
4) Thompsons tablebases to four men

Thanks in advance

Hello:

WBEC web contained a lot of Crafty versions and is reachable through The WayBack Machine:

https://web.archive.org/web/20060721122 ... wnload.htm (Web with lots of Crafty versions).
https://web.archive.org/web/20060503173 ... y_1516.zip (Direct download link of Crafty 15.16).

------------

Not in your wish list, but I think that I found working links for Thompson's 5-man databases (I know that you asked for 4-man, but I left here just in case anyone finds useful) thanks to CPW and a host by Kirill. The host is reachable through The WayBack Machine and the links seems to work:

https://web.archive.org/web/20180714092 ... /thompson/ (Host in FTP-fashion).
https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://ki ... thompson/* (Direct links. Proof that the links should work).

There are 81 *.G files.

I also found a download of 1.6 GB of 'Chess endgame tablebases created by American computer scientist Ken Thompson, originally released as a 4-CD set starting in 1991' which, according to CPW, 'As soon as CD-ROM technology became affordable, Thompson made his entire set of 5-men databases publicly available on 4 CDs, starting in 1991, containing a compressed, Huffman-encoded file for each material configuration where the materially weaker and hence potentially losing side enjoys the right to move', so 5-man again:

https://archive.org/details/thompson-egtbs

I might say a total foolness, but could be that Thompson's 4-man are somehow integrated within Thompson's 5-man?

------------

I saw that there are many versions of 'The Crazy Bishop' and FireFly, but did not try any download. I could not find Fritz4.pgn book.

Regards from Spain.

The same for Edwards tablebases

Yes, I forgot about your 'ALL the files (opening books, etc)' request for Crafty 15.16. In the same web than before, but at the left, there are some books that are supposedly original: v.14 (4.57 MB), v.15 - v.16 (3.55 MB) and v.17 - v.18 (7.13 MB). I leave the direct download link of Book v.15 - v.16:

https://web.archive.org/web/20051105082 ... 6_book.zip

------------

Edwards' tablebases are 'three-, four and some five-piece tablebases constructed [...] in the early 90s' according to CPW, which provides a tablebases generator under Downloads section (Tbgen.zip).

Following the same clue than Thompson's databases, I found Edwards' 4-man tablebases:

https://archive.org/details/EdwardsEGTB

There is a 7-Zip archive of 17.9 MB here. Enjoy!
