Re: Difficult test suites
I agree with Jouni.
For specialized problems, some engines and solvers have an edge.
Chest can solve short mate problems faster than other engines (e.g. mate in 7 or less, Chest will be hard to beat).
Sting is good for certain categories of problems. But don't go far over 16 threads because it actually runs slower.
Crystal 5 is also very good and a valuable second opinion.

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

The Huntsman is a great mate solver and tactician, but it plays terrible chess in games. Which is fine, that is not its purpose.
Rems/Leptir and other tactical engines are from Eduard's site, but he closed his site down. Sometimes he posts links to engines on OpenChess

Here is one version of Leptir:
I sometimes fiddle with the source code and I don''t know if I fiddled with this version or not.

There's a special version of Black Diamond which is very good - years ago since I used it.
Also, if you want high strength and tactical prowess in one package, and you don't mind paying for a short period - the Stockfish Cluster is good at high (2048 IIRC) thread counts which can be rented.

That's reached from two versions of a study from 1937 by T.Gorgiev.
https://www.yacpdb.org/#search/MWsxcjRc ... MS8xLzA=/1
and
https://www.yacpdb.org/#search/MWsxcjRc ... LzEvMS8w/1
From both of them, from one after 2 and from the other one after 3 moves the position of the diagram's reached, regards
Peter.
