Hi there,

Caligula 7.0 NNCe JA xb

If Caligula set mate itself (games without resign mode) a new game will not start with Shredder 12 GUI.
The GUI freezes up badly, along with the other engine.
No chance to run 16 games to the same time.

I check my xb configuration.
Can't find anything.

Unclear for me only is WB protocol 1 or 2.

I think the programmer used "resign = on" for test-games.
So, not seen?

Hi Frank, thanks for the report. Caligula is WB 2 compatible.

I cannot reproduce the error with Cutechess, Arena or Winboard, have not Shredder GUI also. I believe you mean you play without game adjudication, right?

Hi Andreas,

I know, it's hard to describe, and maybe it has something to do with the Winboard adapter or with special setting in wb2uci. I'll look into it further over the weekend and try to generate the log files or Shredder debug files you requested.

I saw that you changed the readme March 19th, 2026 in your download file.
I read it again.

Now test-games vs. Wasp 7.0.0 are still running with "Logfile = true".
Without Shredder 12 feature ucidebug

Hope it will work.
If so, I produce the mistake and I will give you my sorry for the message here.
I have to learn to take a closer look before I raise the alarm.
But after so many years I am always thinking, all is easy and all what I config is allways right.

PS: I hope "LevelExtend = true" is right, not sure here with time control game in 6 + 2.

Often I am thinking on the discussions with Bob and other programmers.
The WB protocol is more clear as UCI but also more cryptic.

Tom was so nice in his comments, we had a lot of fun in testing.
He sent me Stober for the first Winboard rating list / tourneys around 1997 / 1998.
Stober was his first engine, his stronger engine.
Nice to read his name in the logfile ...

After the first 10 games vs. Wasp 7.0.0 no problems.
It seems, I produced the mistake.
Will looking tomorrow again, is a 50-games match.

So I can start again a test-run with Caligula 7.0
Will do that in 3-4 days.

And if I have the problem again ...
Must have to do with the AMD-5950x system, my ETOC-G is still running.

The test vs. Wasp is running on Intel i9-10900k system.
