Thank you very much for forwarding this to Patrick, I really appreciate it.

Just for clarification: the issue I reported occurs on a Windows 10 system (not Windows 11), with a screen resolution of 1920×1080 and Windows scaling set to 125%. Under these conditions, some GUI elements are not visible on the screen.

I understand that the custom piece sets were not part of the original wishlist. I just wanted to mention it as a possible future enhancement, but it is not critical.

For any further testing or discussion, I’ll be happy to provide additional system details if needed.

Thanks again for your time and support.

I use, of course, Windows 11.

So, for further discussions, it would be helpful, to mention, which Windows is running on the PCs.

The problem here, Patrick has no Windows 10 machine. So, he can not do any tests

It seems this issue is independent of Windows version as I have W11. And my wife has W10 where 125 % is OK on a bigger monitor.

Or there is a second move as good as this hard to find move and the switch was just random.
I smell new position testing suites running out of this DT feature that's why I'm more than sceptical.

A known issue of cutechess is that it runs into time trouble leading to time forfeits by collecting too many data in its pgns at least when running many concurrent games. This was the main reason for developing fastchess iirc.
And collecting even more information won't make it better.

Thanks for the additional clarification.

That makes sense; it suggests the issue may depend on a combination of DPI scaling and effective screen size, rather than the Windows version itself.

Thanks again Stefan for your financial investment in this. That is very generous of you and cutechess hasn't had a lot of development lately.

I'll try the previous cutechess-cli.exe to omit the DT, and hopefully that works fine, and I'll enjoy the safety net of being able to resume tournaments. :)

Can any of the testers of cutechessGUI who are using Windows 10 allow Patrick to get access to their machine remotely via TeamViewer, so he can try and fix the problem?

Somewhere in the Windows Nirvana, like always, when anything needs an installation:

Search here:
User - Appdata - Roaming - cutechess
Thanks again, got it.

I find the best solution is switching scales, I can live with that. Fortunately the desktop icons return to their original places when I switch back to 125 %.

So, my first ever tournament under Cute Chess is running! Thanks a lot!

Hi there,

the GUI programmers have been very active for months.
There is no doubt that the idea of improving CuteChess is a very good one.

Many thanks, especially to Stefan for his financial support and to the
young German programmer from PlentyChess.

Best
Frank
