Hi, Jim. If you could also do the latest Stormphrax? Loos like 6.40 is performing pretty well on TCEC now.
Thank you so much!

Hi Jim,
I solved my "Serendipity" & "Calvin" problems with Shredder 12 GUI.
Shredder's "eng" files:
Note:
I renamed the name of engine jar files!
JDK 23.0.2 is installed.
https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/
or
https://jdk.java.net/23/
This have not directly to do with it, but maybe very helpfull for others:
Checking for important updates automatically: The following program with a nice GUI:
Sure, most of us know that as: Former WingetUI
https://www.marticliment.com/unigetui/ (latest version of UnigetUI = 3.1.6).
Best
Frank

Re: New J.A Compiles
Hi Jim,
I checked also your compiles of latest "Serendipity" and "Calvin" but this compiles are not very faster.
Here my overview of current TOP engines.
If your compile is faster I added the information about it in my table.
Checked with Intel generation 10th and 11th i9, not with my AMD systems and not with 512er compiles.
For the others with interest on it:
Can be start with the main/_engines.htm
https://www.amateurschach.de/download/_overview.zip
Included are the *.eng files for Shredder 12 GUI for all ot the engines.
Best

You do really a great work for all of us!!

Re: New J.A Compiles
Two questions for yourself Jim:
1.
Should be "gcc-arm-embedded" ... latest version is 10.3.1 ... installed on Windows 10/11 systems?
I am not sure about it!
2.
Same for "cygwin" ... latest version is 3.5.7
I am not sure about it!
Questions can be important for engine x or y, think so!

Another tip for syzygy 6-pieces:
SSK USB C Externe SSD 512GB, 550 MB/s Extreme very fast USB-Stick, Dual-USB Typ C + USB A USB3.2 Gen2
Perfect for endgame databases!
Enough, hope Jim have time for my two questions!?

well done solving the Java engine problem on Shredder gui.

Only reason to install them would be >
1. If you want to compile for Arm embedded.
2. If you want to compile Linux code to Windows.
Why else would you install them?
Jim.

Re: New J.A Compiles
Hi Jim,
you remember, in the past different of the files were necessary for engines, examples ... in Winboard times for Phalanx. So I am still looking that the current versions of possible *.dll files are installed. But often I am thinking, today not necessary. Now its quit clear for me after your comments.
PS:
Not only for chess engines, often I got in the past for other software messages, this or that *.dll file missed. OK, since a longer time not. More or less in times Windows 7 were installed.
Best

Re: New J.A Compiles
I personally wouldn't install a whole compiler toolchain on my system just for a single dll, but if you have ample space then no problem.Frank Quisinsky wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 10:47 am Hi Jim,

I would just download the dll from a site such as dll-files.com.

Re: New J.A Compiles
Often not easy to understand all this?!
Example: In current ChessBase GUI updates old Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable installed, not in Chessbase software only. Examples are the last GUI updates for Fritz 19 (upd 18 with install errors) and ChessBase 17 and 18 GUI updates 34 and 07 (works).

I would just make sure you have all redistributables installed. I use an all-in-one for convenience >Frank Quisinsky wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 11:06 am Often not easy to understand all this?!
