But in this tournament I was very unhappy at 9 engines being given a free point for being lucky enough to be matched against POS. And ZappaRB was not one of them
I don't think it would have made much difference for Zappa in the final standings, maybe 1 place, the only engine ending above Zappa that played against POS is WaDuuttie.

I will ask Lisebeth not to add POS anymore, I wonder what the purpose of POS is anyway. Folkert has better engines like Micah and PuppetMaster, maybe he can join with one of these (or even both) next time.

I can add Dumb 1.11 running from a Raspberry pi 4 next time; it should be in the 2500 Elo (ccrl) on such a machine. I am not sure it is fair from the same author to run two engines, but Dumb and Amoeba are quite different engines and I saw a few engines running twice on different devices (on a faxt CPU and on an atom or a pi CPU).

Without POS the tournament will have gone completely differently, so who knows what the result would have been !

So what will be the solution in case of an odd number of participants?
Probably removing Sargon as the next weakest engine. In the past there were a lot more engines in the middle of the pack, e.g. the engines of HGM to name a few, and there were others.
Skipper playing weaker than Sargon this time. I was focussing /testing on hyper bullet games. Sargon played three fold repetition in a won position.

Indeed, I have Nightmare running on a 3970X and on a single core atom processor, the speed difference is ~100 (40 Mn/s vs 400 Kn/s). Goldbar does the same, in the past there were several others too. Our only intention is to have a few additional (somewhat weaker) engines running, it is not meant to increase our chances of winning the tourney, in fact it is the opposite because it happens often that the atoms draw their big brothers because the book and the evaluation are the same. In my view the tourney is meant for people wanting to test their engines, winning the tourney is nice but it is not the main objective, at least not for me.

It is no problem to have "Dumb" on a RPI joining the tourney, if you wish I can make an account for it.

Indeed, it is never my objective that an "RB" operated engine should win, although it has happened once or twice. I like to see engine authors entering their own engines and winning. I just like to enter interesting mid-field engines and see if they can spring a surprise. In this case, my expectation was 4.5 for ZappaRB and it exceeded that, a good tournament for it.

Well, it was no problem at all, we shouldn't have added POS and Sargon. The point is that we need more engines in the middle of the pack to make the tournament interesting for everyone. At the moment the gap between the top and the weaker engines is too big.
I can add Micah if you like?

Hi Folkert, that would be fine.

You already have 2 accounts for it, micahgb and micahTR, if you dont' know the passwords anymore I have to send you new ones. Although the server is always up there is no need to let Mica run on it permanently, putting it online at the day of the tournament would be good enough.

Can't remember them yes. Please send me the micahgb one. Thanks in advance.

Oh never mind, found it!
It now runs on an old i7 (3d gen), 1 thread.
