Re: On-line engine blitz tourney February
How do I log in after I run the command? Last time I tried and was a bit confused because it wasn't obvious to me what to do.
What I found was that I can add the option "-icslogon=/home/User/blabla/.iscrc" with ".iscrc" looking like this:
Would this work? Do I need to take extra steps? Also, I assume I can also use "xboard" instead of "winboard", right?

Works for me even without the extra command line option, just with the .icsrc - and yes, Xboard works, too. I recommend Openseal as timeseal, that works under Linux.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney February
This time there were some problems at the start of the tournament. Pontifex and EdSchroder refused to move a few times, CSTal was observing other games during the tournament which seemed to mess up something. Zahak and EdSchroder both had problems with time control.
Belfish won the tournament, I expected Pontifex (Daniel Infuehr, the best C++ programmer the world has ever seen) to win because he was running the latest Stockfish on an AMD 5950X, but this did not happen, for Swiss tournaments with only 9 rounds you also need a bit of luck.
Nightmare was very lucky this time, against Wasp it came out of book in a more or less won position which gave it the edge. Pontifex, Goldbar (written in Pascal, running on a i9-9960X) and CSTal (running on an AMD 3990X) ended on a shared third place.

Just to clarify, Zahak had 1 second for the last 20 moves against WaspX, and eventually it lost on time. Which is completely natural (if any one to blame is Zahak's bad time managementJoost Buijs wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 10:48 pm This time there were some problems at the start of the tournament. Maybe you should give it a little bit more room to breathe. You don't have to lose games with increment on time, without increment is more difficult though. Tablebase access can take more time than expected, I usually keep a time buffer of 5 seconds to avoid such problems.amanjpro wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 10:51 pmJust to clarify, Zahak had 1 second for the last 20 moves against WaspX, and eventually it lost on time. ). Thing is it was a TB draw position
but passing 100 moves on 1 second is a bit of challenge apparently

). Thing is it was a TB draw position
but passing 100 moves on 1 second is a bit of challenge apparently

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney February
Note to self: Install EGTB, Smaller Hashtable size
Also I think it would be good to include hardware and engine ID in the rankings.
Its just meaningless to compare anything without knowing relative HW performance and if its an SF clone or original work.
For example its clear the NightmareX was running original work with an Threadripper 3970X which is 32 cores.
It would be interesting to see what was behind BelFish since that is a SF derivate but with unknown hardware.
