now thanks to the folks at ARENA the Citrine can be used to play different PC Engines

does this make it more likely that you will now buy one for yourself??
no, it doesn't bother me, if it can be connected to Arena (btw. a very good alternative to CB, even i still prefer CB)

I would only buy it, if it plays different to my Star Ruby! I now own so many clones of this program (Jade II, Emerald Classic plus, Amber, SR), i really don't need another one!

And it should not matter, in which order you remove the pieces, when playing Qxc4 or so...

Is this still existing in the latest version? In Oliver's videos i saw, that it was possible, first to remove the piece and then move the beating piece. I always thought, this would not be accepted by the citrine? (like the Exc. Grandmaster)

hi Robert
i do not know what the corrected version can do or not do exactly

the version of the Citrine that i have has NO BUGS what so ever..... except only that if a game ends it a draw or in mate then the computer cannot replay the game but must be reset to begin another game

other then this which does not make a big difference to me i have no bugs to report including all of the book problems ,black from bottom problems,lock-up problems etc etc reported by European owners
so for this small inconvenience i did not nor will not consider to install the corrected version

Perfect From The First Day Regards

YES. Ok. I´m using ARENA and Chessbase... why can´t install arena + chessbase if arena it´s free ?, after a game. or save game of citrine, I can see on chessbase software if we save the games in *.pgn. (universal)

I still prefer some CB options, but I still prefer the ARENA cost ( free ? ), and some goods options that not exits on CB.

OK. the level OF citrine versus other computer "with" have more ELO, are very similar. but I same moments the style of CITRINE is VERY VERY diferent in comparation (obsidian or Star ruby), I´m read a test on BT-2450 and obsidian have "only" ~1900 points and CITRINE have near ~2000 point, This is a LOT of diferents style...

of course These BUGs are very small... BUT I say you that "my citrine" have the ORIGINAL and " vers 1.00 serial comunication of citrine (comand "I" send to serial port)

I can see that situation when I play versus citrine, but I think that when you play versus engine PC. you are play on a especial mode ( comunication serial is very rare, and limited for programers...more dificult that previus universal chess board ), you can see a option in software about send ( twice mode or single mode ), maybe the move of engine was send two times. OR maybe comand "F" flib or other comand was send after "take back" comand... THis is necesary to CITRINE "show" move on LEDs...

In real words, I think that CITRINE only say Us that position "have two pieces that there are not in correct square" , for that reason You can remove the piece (go out board ) and then move the beating piece ... in this mode you can see "how" LEDs on...

if you use the traditional mode CITRINE, you Up the "first piece" but you can see "LED"s on, because in this square Exits a piece... CITRINE don´t know if this piece is white or black... and it think that position is correct in comparation Monitor PC computer...

I think that for this reason too, you can see that "previus" move (square destination) on board citrine, after one second... the move is do on monitor... (maybe citrine send again all position or game ), when engine checking all correct... send again move and then we can see on wood board...

Very dificult for programers OF arena... but I´m happy ;-)

bye since Spain.
