With Stockfish 15, the developers stopped providing
engines for Windows 32-bit, despite the fact that there
is still support to do this in the source code.
Despite the fact that even I have finally
upgraded to a 64-bit computer,
I guess that there might still be some
users who haven't.
So I have built some 32-bit engines
for Stockfish_17 which can be downloaded
from the following link :-
https://www.mediafire.com/file/lvubqy55 ... es.7z/file
Alternatively, they can be downloaded from
the downloads page of the following website
https://nimzo-3d-chess-gui.infinityfreeapp.com

Just curious, what was your 32-bit CPU type, and from when to when did it last?
I see now and then "i386 BSD" in my web logs as OS type, so there must be others out there.

Re: Stockfish 17 32-bit engines for Windows
I still have a Sony VAIO NRE110E from 2007, and I occasionally use it if I leave my main laptop at work. It is 32 bit, with 1 GB RAM and 120 GB harddisk, Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2310 @ 1.46GHz. I have Stockfish 9 installed on it (which I installed from the MX Linux repository) and other programs available in the repository (the usual ones Crafty, Phalanx, Fruit, GNU Chess, etc.).
I have not tried to compile the later versions of SF on it. But I doubt if it is possible to compile SF 17 32 bit on it, which brings me to a slightly unrelated question: I have another laptop Dell Latitude 3450, 4 GB RAM, and when I try to compile SF 17 on it (if I recall, also happened with 16.1), the machine comes to halt and I have to turn it off after waiting for 15 minutes, Is it because compilation needs more than 4 GB RAM? I am able to compile it on a more recent Dell XPS 8960.

Re: Stockfish 17 32-bit engines for Windows
Regarding the compile, Idk, maybe the machine gets overheated by the load and shuts down? You can try to cross-compile from another host for specific target.

Sorry, I probably used the wrong word 'halted'. The machine didn't shut down, but hanged within half a minute when I started compiling, and I could not even switch between windows, so had to shut it down.

Re: Stockfish 17 32-bit engines for Windows
A family member had a Lenovo/IBM T60 with 32-bit Intel Yonah (T2xxx) from 2006 as daily driver running til 2021, didn't want to let go, I insisted to upgrade to T61 with 64-bit to be able to run newest Ubuntu versions...chesskobra wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 11:36 am I still have a Sony VAIO NRE110E from 2007, and I occasionally use it if I leave my main laptop at work.
