Hi,
Should the egtbs be used in blitz tests?
TIA,
PS: What I mean with blitz tests: TCs with 1+1 (or 5+5 at most) or faster

I do not know about Nalimov, but for Gaviota TBs, yes. I even use it for ultrafast games (40 moves/ 8 seconds) with the TBs in flash drive.beachknight wrote:Hi,

Thank you for taking the time for the response, Miguel.michiguel wrote:I do not know about Nalimov, but for Gaviota TBs, yes. I even use it for ultrafast games (40 moves/ 8 seconds) with the TBs in flash drive.beachknight wrote:Hi,

I have been using a full set of 5 pieces (Nalimov and Scorpio
bitbases) in almost all of my tests.
I have not noticed a problem with Nalimov egtbs up to now.
On the other hand, Scorpio egbbs can be problematic sometimes.
Loading all of them on memory at the game start, causes
low memory and therefore the machine overload with crash.
I take note that you suggest using Gaviota TBs in blitz tests,
also in ultrafast games. I should select Critter or DayDreamer
and make some experiments with them.
Endgame tablebases could well be a problem on slow computers
like my prescott or a P233.
Best,
