I think there is a material imbalance table built in to the executable.

It is true only for Rybka 1.0 beta.

Copy protection in 3, material imbalance tables in 1.0 beta, and I have no clue about 2.3.2.

I assume it's to make decompiling a bit harder. If you decompile Rybka it will produce probably (I didn't try it) a lot of air (code with no significance to chess play).
