I guess you mean knightmate. This is indeed one of the variants I like best. Similar enough to standard Chess that anyone can play it immediately without much dificulty, and yet subtly different. There is a fair number of WinBoard engines that can play knightmate, with ratings ranging from about 1500 to 2300.

A stupid question: Is the U.S. already on daylight saving time?

I announced this tourney without paying attention to daylight saving time. In Europe we are currently on daylight-saving time. I sure hope the U.S. is too, because otherwise the annuncement is not consistent, and 21:00 here would correspond to 2pm EST...

I'll try to be there tonight, for the first time. I don't remember: Can I log on anonymously, or do I need a username and password?

1) Whoever shows up. I will be there with Joker and the new engine I am building.
2) You can logon to the ICS under your own name (e.g. TomKing). If you are not registered, you don't have to give a password, and will be logged on as a guest. Use the IP number given above to connect with your favorite interface. With WinBoard this would require the command to watch:

winboard -ics -icshost 80.100.28.169 -icshelper timeseal
