Re: a good test position for developing engines
Well, of course all engines can find that as it is very simple, but it depends on the evaluation whether the engines think taking the pawn is better. For example, my engine first wants to take the pawn but then decides that 6...Bd6 is better:Togga wrote:1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bb5 e5 5.Bxc6 dxc6 6.Nxe5

Re: a good test position for developing engines
look at the analysis of Alaric 707 and rybka 2.3.2a.
some engines finds Nxe4 very late.
i want that engines play this move at timecontrol 2 min + 2 sec.

Nxe4 is a better move than Bd6.
look at the game between Anand-Kramnik.

You mean that not_to_good engines won't find and play Nxe4 quickly?Togga wrote:i read somewhere that engine developers use test positions for developing, testing engines.
this is a good test position.
why not?
imo one position tells just about zero about engine strength.

i thought so,the engine is then more flexible. cant explain it yet.
it scores then more points at timecontrol 2+2 matches:)
