Any suggestions?
Many thanks in advance,

Define "fully compliant". Does that mean it must functionlly implement every command described in the specs, or does it mean that it must not violate anything from the specs. For instance, printing "Error (unknown command): analyze" is an implementation of the "analyze" command that perfectly complies with the specs...

Primarily I'm interested in supporting the '.' command so I can get periodic output during analysis. I would guess that if an engine went that far, everything else I need would also be supported.

That is a quite different question than you started asking. You are interested in thefunctionality of a certain feature. There is no logical reason why people that want there engine to support analysis would also support the 'rating' command, or draw offers, or fixed depth, or incremental time control. Or variant bughouse..
You cannot say that an engine that refuses the analyze command with the prescribed error message is less compliant with v1 protocol than one that refuses to play bughouse. The protocol defines these as optional features.
