Chess Informant Expert 6.6 (Lite-version): support-problems

Post by Norbert Raimund Leisner »

Hello together,

on http://sahovski.co.yu/products/software/index.php
(see details on http://www.playwitharena.com > link "CC Wiki" > link
"Lists" > link "Engine Protocol List (for chess GUI´s) CIE 6.6 is offered.

Before buying it, I contacted the support-team and wanted to know
if WinBoard engines (like Thinker, Bringer, Scorpio etc,) can be embedded
into this interface for analyzing games - but no reply from there.

The Lite version is free and has two types of protocols: UCI (clear) and Crafty engine type (which is not more specified there!), because Crafty was distributed not only as WB-engine, but as ChessBase and Millenium Chess System (MCS- no longer available) versions, too.

Has anybody the full version and can test on his computer at home if
CIE 6.6 allows the embedding of "normal" WinBoard-engines e.g. Sloppy,
Scorpio, Frenzee, etc.?

Other GUI´s like PGN Mentor make indeed a difference between
WB and Crafty engine types!

Any suggestions or comments...?

Best wishes,
Norbert

I shouldn't think there is any difference between the engines supported by the lite version and the full version.

Crafty IS a Winboard protocol engine.

Without ever using Chess Informant Expert... I would assume ANY Winboard engine will work. Right?

Could you post the link to Chess Informant Expert 6.6 Lite please?

I cant find it there. Thank you
