Glaurung issues

Post by Kaj Soderberg »

Hi Tord,

I would like to report 2 Glaurung Mac issues.

1. As i understand you are again developing the Mac GUI for Glaurung, great. I notice that when you want to use "continuous analysis" after setting up a position there is a checkbox where you can tell the engine that it is white's turn to move. Well, if you do not fill the checkbox, the engine still thinks it is white's turn.

2. I tried to download the 1.2.1 version for its attractive playing style, but the download did not happen. Here is the error:

"The requested URL /Glaurung121.dmg was not found on this server.

Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) Server at www.glaurungchess.com Port 80"

May i have your votes?

Cheers,
Kaj

Not really, but I have to start working on it again soon. It seems embarassingly primitive and amateurish compared to my iPhone OS GUI.

Thanks for the bug report -- I didn't notice, because I hardly ever set up position by hand, but just cut and paste FENs to the GUI. I'll have a look at it as soon as possible

No time to fix it now, but the source code download works. If you have the developer tools installed, you should be able to build it easily.

By the way, my web site is badly outdated, and it's been a while since the claim that version 1.2.1 "has a much more entertaining style of play" was true. From a user's perspective, there isn't much difference between Glaurung 1.2.1 and Glaurung 2.2 (version 2.2 is stronger, but I doubt that most users will notice the difference).

I won't be able to write any further replies in this thread the next couple of days: I'm leaving for England in a couple of hours, and will be offline until I get back home on Wednesday next week.
