Hi George,

Thanks for the tournament! :)

However, talk about being tossed into the lions den (viper pitt?) .

Just make sure you sweep all of Romi's little pieces into one pile, so I can put her back together again!
If you are on a sidewalk and the covid goes beep beep
Just step aside or you might have a bit of heat
Covid covid runs through the town all day
Can the people ever change their ways
Sherwin the covid's after you
Sherwin if it catches you you're through

I can assure you Michael, that no one is pulling harder for her to do well than i am. My only question to you would be that as much time as you have spent conditioning and refining your program to take advantage of learning- and then have her thrown into tournaments where she cannot use any learning- was she, in your opinion ready for that. I myself would not have a clue. All i know about programming is how to spell the word. Would be interested in your thoughts on that.

Best,
Tony Thomas

I think that Romi can pull through at the end and avoid the last place. It should be able to get ahead of Cyrano and Matacz if luck permits.

Best,
I enjoy Romi vs other computer compitition. However, Romi's style is meant for play against humans. I want human players to really enjoy their experiance. It is exciting to have a program that really comes after you, makes all kind of mistakes in the process and then beats you anyway.

I was surprised that this uncatious approach also works against some rather strong chess programs. I am also not surprised that it does not work against some others.

This group of engines (A Romp With Romi) as a whole is a group (with the exception of Cyrano) that could have been hand picked on purpose to minimize Romi's performance vs their average rating. :( But, you would have had no way to know that before hand. It was just the luck of the draw! 8-) . Anyway I look forward to Romi taking at least a few scalps! :D

I assure you Michael, this tournament was in no way set up to hurt Romis rating in any way. I sincerely hope you will trust me on that.

Best to You,

Best to You,
Absolutly I trust that it was not intentionaly set up that way. And I hope that I am wrong about my projected outcome. But, I do believe that Romi (and her rating) will be brutally mauled by the engine selection. If that happens then I will ask you to change the name of the tournament to 'A Romp On Romi'.

Anyway, I will enjoy watching! :D

Actually mike losing against a much stronger opponents help you gain score. If Romi can score about 30% vs these opponents, she will actually gain few points in her rating. The rating system is weird aint it?

Hey Tony,

If Romi scores 30% or more against this group of engines I will give George a big kiss!
