The Link Terry gave is very useful...
If the machine is for chess only I would seriously consider
the GA-G33-DS3R this has onboard graphics more than enough for chess...
However if you want better graphics the GA-P35-DS3R is great (I have one as well as the GA-G33-DS3R)...
There will shortly be a GA-G35-DS3R (this should have onboard graphics with DVI out) that might be better for some.
Additionally check out what else you might need these boards do not have firewire however there are decent models from gigabyte that do..
One small point not sure if it was mentioned - using the automatic voltage adjust on the Gigabyte board tends to give slightly more voltage than you need - manually adjusting the voltages might get you down a couple of steps - cooler quieter less power consumption.
Have fun

I have a bunch like that on my MSN, including that one. When you also play games like backgammon and poker, you need to be able to vent properly.Tony Thomas wrote:Terry, your avatar might offend some here that are weak minded.
