Movei 4.38 in CEGT

Post by Werner »

Hi Uri,
I will start testing your new engine today. Can you please confirm, I did correct installation and setting please.
I have following files in my movei folder:

movei_magic_numbers438.ini
...
movei_changes438.ini (for 256 mb hash)
less_reduce 1
logfile 0
loghash 23
loghasheval 23

table_path438.ini (is this necessary?)
J:\tbs

set the enviroment variable NALIMOV_PATH to J:/tbs

movei_book_details438.ini (I do use perfect12.32.ctg for all engines)

I will install it as uci-engine.

Infos of the match you can read here: http://husvankempen.de/nunn/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=833

If you install movei as uci engine and I recommend it because my testing were as uci engine then you do not need to change the changes file and you do not need the tablebase path(they do not cause demage and you only do not need them)

Movei know to read hash size as uci engine and ignore the changes file in that case and the same for tablebase path.

They are needed only if movei is used as winboard engine.

Can Movei now use the book as a UCI engine?
If not, I see a big problem here, if UCI is to be used as the protocol.

Movei can use book as uci engine or as winboard engine.
I see no difference.

I also do not see why it is important because CEGT test without book and movei does not use book if it finds no book.

A great decision, yes. It did very well in the FRC testing.

I took this information from the SSDF, but I realized that the SSDF is based on standard or long time control, that result of 100 games was the match that ended yesterday around 10 PM. I decided to have one more short match of 50 games and it seems that movei438 is scoring better or having better luck every single match after the first bad result against shredder 6.02.

I would like to test movei438 versus Gambit tiger2, but I don't know if it works under LockaSoft GUI, since I don't have Tiger for Fritz or Chessbase.
