The strongest program that play chess960 is NOT Rybka

Post by pichy »

Yes, Rybka already has the Ability to play Chess960 and it will be released soon.

Who do you predict that it will win the Chess960 World championship that start Thursday and it will end on Friday?
You might be thinking that Rybka is as good in Chess960 as it is in FRC, but I know of a program that Rybka would not come close in FRC, Is is NOT Shredder, Nor Johnny, and it will be playing at Mainz too. Well since you already know which program I am thinking that it will be World Chess960 Champion again, we will have to wait and see.

I'll still say that Rybka will finish first!

In a match Ray played, Rybka FRC 64-bit scored 76% against Hiarcs 11 in a 100 game match.

Since then, Vas has fixed some bugs in it too! 8-)

I think it will be hard to find a chess entity that plays better than Rybka in any game that resembles chess. Now with FRC chess I would think that Rybka will be a monster because book lines will be meaningless ... and Rybka's strongest points are outplaying an engine in the middle game. I think it will be no contest.

There is a solution to this problem.
kill rybka in the opening so she does not get into the middle game.

Note that in order to kill rybka in the opening you do not need book lines and opening knowledge may be enough.

I remember that I read that rybka's performance is relatively worse with no opening book in normal chess because playing opening moves based on knowledge is relatively not her strong point.

I also expect rybka to win unless spike did a huge improvement from the public version.

I do not know what Jorge knows about spike.

I am just kidding, Rykba could probably give pawn odd to Shredder, Spike and Johnny in normal or standard chess, and possibly in FRC too

Yes I always thought that Spike has tremendous potential. It is IMHO one of the best performers on slow hardware and seems to have great chess instincts that are not based on search ... but based on knowledge. Still I would expect Rybka to win a match against any of them ... although some losses are inevitable.

Round 1
Shredder - Jonny 1-0
Spike - Rybka 1-0

http://www.chesstigers.de/ccm7_index_ne ... ng=0&kat=0

In german, but if you scroll down you can read 3. Livingston C960 Computer World Champion ....

There you see the "online" button - which is offline at the moment.
