How do you account for the views of other respected programmers such as Gian-Carlo Pascutto, Don Dailey, Andres Valverdes (plus other programmers who now include Eric Mullins) when they say that they believe it to be a Rybka clone also?
And why would other forums including the Hiarcs forum ban links?
We can't live in cloud-cuckoo land in CCC forever. Links should be banned.
I challenge other programmers who believe Robbo to be a clone to step forward and say so.
Please remain on topic. We were talking about Larry's claim here.
I still answer your questions.
1. I don't think 'believing' is an evidence even if the 'believer' is a respected programmer.
2. The ban is not an evidence. It is a verdict.
Correct
we banned links for more then 2 months and made multiple public requests for some evidence to be put forth to establish that the engines are clones
when nothing came forward we finally allowed links and even then we stated that if evidence comes forward in the future we would reconsider the issue
we are still waiting
did this silence the discussion?
no it simply silenced those that agreed with that decision and raised the voices of those that disagreed with it
commercial sites exist for one purpose...to sell their products
you are never going to see them take a position that would be harmful to their business models
if the CCC is going to rely on the positions commercial sites take we might as well close this place down or let the owners of these sights appoint the mods here as they do there
we are the only forum on the net with elected moderators
at the end of the day..the memership decides what goes on here
speaking of which...
Moderator Nominations begin this Friday
With the Election to take place the following Friday
the decision to allow/disallow links..allow/disallow discussion, or even to wipe the names of these engines off the page (as some would like)
will pass from the current mod team .. into the hands of the members
moderator candidates should make their positions very clear on these contentious issues..hopefully they will receive a mandate from the members which will enable them to moderate the forum accordingly going forward
