SCID vs PC Xfcc connection Issue

Post by gatoruss »

I have been playing some correspondence games on the ICCF server. I would like to configure scid vs pc to connect to the ICCF server to manager games, makes moves, etc. When I configure SCID vs pc 's internal xfcc server to connect to the iccf server, I get an the following error:

"SSL channel "sock4080": error: sslv3 alert handshake failure."

It was my understanding that neither the iccf server nor scid vs pc uses ssl version 3?

Any idea what I may be doing wrong, or is it no longer possible to use scid vs pc to connect to the ICCF server?

Thanks for any assistance.

I believe I have identified the issue. The most recent version of scidvspc comes bundles with Tcl/Tsl 8.5 and TSL 1.6. The ICCF chess server requires Tcl/Tsl 8.6 and Tsl 1.7. I tried some suggestions to hack the scidvspc install and swap out tcl8.5.dll and tk8.5.dll for 8.6 counterparts, but that breaks other things and scidvspc fails to load afterward (something about a missing zlib1.dll file).

Seems that I cannot access the ICCF chess server with scidvspc until it is updated to include Tcl/Tsl 8.6.

Bummer.
