This is a beautiful GUI with great functionality, fantastic work ! I think Matthias once said that writing a GUI was way harder than a chess engine.
thanks Ray.

100% agree with Matthias now that I can compare (though my engine is only mediocre by todays standards)

I reused movegen/board and other low level chess-related stuff I from cheng that I knew I could rely on as it was battle-tested

I think everyone using Cute Chess will find Myracle an alternative which is an improvement on many aspects. And I can recommend it to those as well who are on the look-out for a nice and user friendly GUI. Just try it and see it with your own eyes.
Agreed.
I'll be switching to it once I can run my broadcasts using it. :)
You can start using it for the stuff that you don't broadcast

Hi ..

A very beautiful GUI with lots of possibilities. I also have a suggestion for the game overview. To get a quick impression of the ongoing games, an evaluation bar would be a great addition. And sorry for my English.

For anybody who is on the fence about using Myracle, it has already replaced CuteChess for me. A terrific feature which Martin didn't mention is that you can import your engine list from CuteChess or Banksia, so you can start your first tournament very quickly.

Clean and easy to use, with all the features I need. Would definitely recommend!

Hi John,

Myracle feels clean, innovative, and is easy to use. It offers the most essential but perfectly sufficient features. There are a few little nice extras here and there, clearly programmed with great attention to detail, while still leaving room for perhaps additional options in the future development. It’s a very nice piece of work, and I agree with the opinion that this GUI is, in my personal view, clearly superior to CuteChess.

I also like the Qapla GUI, to be honest. But Myracle somehow feels like it’s version 10.0 instead of 1.0.

It’s an achievement, no doubt about it.

The available options now need to be thoroughly tested in the grueling day-to-day engine environment, but given how polished the GUI looks, I get the feeling there will likely be few, if any, bugs.

I was actually thinking this afternoon while I was gardening about whether I should switch from the Shredder 12 GUI to this one, but is now really the time to start experimenting for my still running ETOC-G? I know the Shredder 12 GUI inside and out. But now I have a real alternative that I actually like better at first glance.

Best

I've uploaded build 52 with GameDuration and PlyCount tags. btw. the FEN tag is only present if startpos is different from normal chess startpos

Thanks Frank,

glad to hear you like it. Myracle has a couple of novel approaches, like the automatic scheduler for example.

Qapla is innovative and pretty awesome. it can do things Myracle cannot, like adding/removing engines
on the fly to an existing tour and change number of cycles/games.
Also thanks to its engine conformace test I was able to find some new bugs in cheng.

As for Myracle bugs, there was a nasty one related to stability that was only fixed recently thanks to a report from Gabor,
I'm pretty sure additional (hopefully minor) bugs are yet to be found, but what can be found can be fixed.
Stability is really tricky in general - also the GUI has to make sure it leaves no engine zombies (processes) running etc.

Some minor features will probably arrive in time, but I don't plany any big features at the moment.

Hi Martin,

I will looking in the next days more in details and I'm really looking forward to it.

First, I will test the two engines, made problems with Shredder GUI because to many UCI entries.
This are Deuterium and Lc0 CPU (more as 40 or 80 entries, forget it but the engines with most entries).

My main topic isn't eng-eng, more the own opening book!
The reason I am search all the time the attackers. Here I will check a bit at second the opening book features with my old FEOBOS files and my newer book.

If you like I can give some impressions in detail later.
But a good test need time and at the moment temperatures are high, and that makes it hard to concentrate.

Really, a very nice work!
Sure, this GUI is going to gain a lot of fans very quickly!

Best

yes, absolutely. feedback is very important - and though it's impossible to please everyone, I still write down everything and decide later.
