I'd like a discussion about whether the charter might need an update about AI generated posts. Let's start with two basic takes to encourage an open-ended discussion. Please note that I'm not writing this as moderator here, just as a regular member.
Pro AI ban: AI slop doesn't contribute and mostly creates noise. If someone wants to discuss a certain topic with an AI, they can do so directly instead of polluting the forum.
Contra AI ban: Not everyone is a native or even proficient English speaker. Using one's own thoughts, but getting AI help to express them properly can enable people to participate despite the language barrier.

...if there is a rule that AI (co)generated content must be marked as such on this forum

then it will be up to the user to read it or ignore it? To distinct one owns, original thoughts from AI generated ones.Chatbot wrote: ..AI gen stuff

Re: AI generated posts
I think a regular forum post should be self-written and in "forum style" (with lots of freedom for subjective preferences of course). Use of AI to translate from one's own native language into English is of course fine. Use of AI to produce impenetrable "epistemological" gibberish is not.
But it should be fine to include an AI-generated section that is marked as such where it contributes something. Just like we accept engine-generated analysis of chess positions (in the form of PVs and evaluations, etc.).

Re: AI generated posts
I find AI slop as porn. Much of it is offensive to one's intelligence. Much of it is down to the posters inability to sensefully participate and hence a mask, but each time very obvious and basically derailing of otherwise useful threads.Ras wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2026 11:58 am I'd like a discussion about whether the charter might need an update about AI generated posts. Point taken for non native speakers.
Perhaps use of light yellow text on white background - those people who really want to read it can block it to another colour to do so, but let's basically treat it as porn.

Re: AI generated posts
AI generated posts violate rule of real personal name in the profile. Or even worse they mask themselves as humans.

If the output of a chatbot which had been instructed to role play a sex phone line were posted, it would be in breach of the charter without requiring additional rules.

Re: AI generated posts
How would they understand the replies in English? If they are going to use DeepL or another such service to translate the replies, then they might as well use such a service in the first place, which is quite different from AI slop.
Personally, I would not engage in conversation if someone posted AI slop.
