Stockfish 17.1 started after more as 100 games with 85% ...
Hm, normaly it should be around 81,5%.

Not enough games ...
Once again, nothing is going as it should.
I'm slowly becoming restless.

I'm having the entire thread deleted, damn it.
No, no ... end of day all will be good.

Hi there,

I am looking in the games from Stockfish 17.1 ... from my ETOC-G test-phase!
forum3/viewtopic.php?t=85773

Hardware in test-phase = Intel i9 10900k with 4.3Ghz!

Final result = 82,58% (not 81.5% I had in my brain).
Different things I changed since this time (two engines, hardware, time-control).
In the group of standard engines are two stronger engines!!

At the moment 84,95% after 372 games.
In this case ... all seems to be right.

Stockfish 17.1 seems to be a 3 stars general.
Lieutenant General *** 1.104,5 ( 84,97%) - 1.066,0 ( 82,00%), maybe a four stars general if more as 85%.

So, all runs wonderful!
Perhaps at the moment 0.5 - max 1.0% to high after 372 games.

Fact is:
Such a result will be very hard to top (means for Stockfish 18).
We are speaking from the strongest engine!

Let us wait of the final result!

Very sure that my system will be work very fine!

Hi there,

- one test-run need around 20-21 hours.
- average power consumption is 103 watts with 4.0Ghz.
- after 50% of the games, all 26 standard engines runs without any problems.
- Stockfish 17.1 = 84,49% after 664 games, after my short calculation I made in the night around 0,3% - 0.4% to high.

For the moment it seems that all runs fine and ETOC-G have a good start.

End of a test-run:
Games more than 300 moves and games ending in a draw in fewer than 20 moves are repeated.
Better for move-average stats, can be do later.

To Stockfish 18:
If Stockfish 18 is approximately 40 Elo stronger than Stockfish 17.1 minus Elo inflation (high number of draws vs. engines approximately 50-100 Elo weaker), Stockfish 18 should actually be less than 20 Elo stronger. 1% = approx. 7.5 Elo. Stockfish 18 should therefore score approx. 2% more points than Stockfish 17.1 vs. the field of 26 standard engines.

Prognosis = 86,2% for Stockfish 18!

Hi there,

final results for:
Stockfish 17.1 = 1.081,0 out of 1.300,0 points = 83,15%
Rang = Lieutenant General ***

Next:
Stockfish 18

Stockfish is fighting for the next star.
Will be very hard to get 1.85% more for a four stars general

Hi there,

two changes:
Minor optimizations ...

1.
Games are available after a test-run only.
That's better than uploading the games played to the server every few minutes.

Games can be found on ETOC-G detail site after every test-run.
https://www.amateurschach.de/main/_etoc-g.htm

2.
*.html and *.sto file are now every 3 minutes updated (faster as before, 5 minutes).

If i watch the Stockfish 18 success rate / percentage during the test run ...
The desire to be better than Stockfish 17.1 is definitely there, this struggle / fight is almost human like.

A very hard order for Stockfish 18 to fight vs. Stockfish 17.1.

But every other group of opponents will present us an other result. Not important how many games we produced. And after all ... this fight will be much harder if we set the time for a move higher and higher. We have probably long since exceeded the limits of accurately measuring playing strength with Elo. The measurement system is completely overwhelmed when it comes to measuring the playing strength of chess programs.
