So you were talking about the M5, and then chose to compare it with the 5090.
New Apple MacBook M5 has tensor cores. LC0 will be a lot faster :-)

The Apple M-series "Ultra" edition is used in the Studio and Mac Pro, and these you can compare to a desktop PC/workstation.syzygy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:34 amSo you were talking about the M5, and then chose to compare it with the 5090.

No. I was comparing two desktop-class GPUs, and from that making comments on the M5, since the M5 is clearly related to previous M processors.syzygy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:34 amSo you were talking about the M5, and then chose to compare it with the 5090.
Yes the post was about the M5 and its successors. No it was not a direct comparison between the M5 and the 5090.

I am the opposite of a fanboy, but I am honest enough to say that I have been very impressed with Apple's M series of SoCs: they run battery powered portable devices like phones, tablets and laptops, and for their weight, size and power consumption their processing power is truly astonishing.
I still don't recommend Apple products for most people - but let's be honest about what an outstanding job the designers of the M SoCs did.
