The forum is now responsive again, but an hour ago or so the forum was very slow and kept logging me out. Posts that I submitted did not even make it to the forum.

So are these known AI companies that are DDOS'ing the forum? Isn't this a form of computer criminality?

I wouldn't be surprised. But what interest could be behind it?

I have very little time to spend on TalkChess at the moment, as I am renovating my future home. Which means long days out of town doing construction work, without any internet access.

I know where to find the Apache access logs (/var/log/apache2/*), but I have no time to study them anywhere in the near future. I don't think it would be proper to publish those, as they contain the i.p. addresses from which the requests game. And it is possible to tie those to the author of a posting by matching the time stamp of a POST request to that of a posting in the forum.

Well, anybody here with enough knowledge - and time - to take the task ? 8-)

I suppose it would be OK to share a log of all GET requests. So I extracted those from the access log of September 1, a day where there were complaints about the slowness, and put those on-line somewhere. If someone is interested in having a look at those, send me a PM, and I will give you the URL.
