Hi there,
I am working since a while on an Engine-Overview for ~ TOP-100 engines.
With Shredder GUI configuration examples.
A bit more complicated to do that in combination with all the great compiles by Jim, means as in times before.
If you like that, you can save it in your favorits.
Very fast site without "advertisement" or "hidden stats" and such things.

If you find mistakes, please let me know!

Hello Frank, thank you very much for your tireless work in computer chess. You've been involved for so long.
So I'm asking if you know of an engine called bitbit from the last millennium. I think I've heard the name
before, but I could be wrong.

Hi,
indeed, perhaps an engine with a similar name in the beginning of Winboard.
First are Tristram, SSEChess, TheCrazyBishop, Crafty, GnuChess, Stober.
Perhaps in the time before Winboard?
Since Winboard ... no!
Before Winboard ... could be?!
I don't know.
Maybe you are thinking on Bit-Genie.
Bit-Genie is from 2020!
I believe BChess ... an Australian engine, plays Australasian-NCC around 2002.
Could be that the "B" stand for Bit
Or BBChess ... an french engine around the year 1998.
A very friendly programmer, all the French programmers in the beginning of Winboard. Without this group of French programmers Winboard never have been successful. But BBChess are never available. After all i know "Bit&Bytes Chess".
Later a newer BBChess was available, with "BB" means the first letter from name and surname of the programmer from Slovenia.
I don't know!
Can search on the backup CDs from the first PC-programms.
But the CDs I have not at home.
Honestly, I forgot a lot ... to many engines, chess programs all the years!!
Jim Ablett know more, or Günther Simon, Dann Corbit?!
