Re: SlowChess Blitz Classic 2.0
Ed :
Thanks for testing Slow 2.8. The Elo difference is more than I'd expect, but given the underperformance of 2.7 in GRL, the performance against other engines matches my own testing. I'm not sure why 2.8 did so much better, I didn't do any gambit training since I couldn't find a gambit opening book, most new testing/training was 4-moves book.
In my 20s+.15s testing Stockfish 14 is around 260 Elo ahead. I'm always surprised at how much increasing time control closes gap and lets Slow hold more draws.
I expect by the time the next few versions of Koivisto and Berserk roll out they'll be out of reach, so wanted to release something while it was still competitive with other near top programs.
Frank :
Also I saw all the new releases going into your tournament and decided now was a good time to join the fun.

Re: SlowChess Blitz Classic 2.0
The opinions in case of Slow by John and myself are to 100% the same.
We love your engine ... not a big secret.
Jonathan ...
If you have many time ...
You know the chess-computer community is very strong (what the people try to do and the niveau of discussion, the ideas the people have).
A good example is the site: https://www.schachcomputer.info/
If very aggressive chess programs, like Slow, Booot, Wasp it seems Seer (think so, must wait of the own statistics to the still running tournament), others can be used with playing-levels for chess-computer projects ... can be this one the basic for a new generation for programs, used for chess-computers. I think what people like to see are very aggressive and speculative chess programs with many pieces on board. To discuss about king attacks is all the time most interesting.
All what I like to say is ...
The topic is ...
To have a Slow version for Raspberry and of course your permission to use Slow for chess-computer projects will be wonderful.
Believe me, your engine is the perfect completition for the chess-computer community and ... for sure ... for myself.
I like to play with chess-computers and wish me that most interesting chess engines today are available for new chess-computer developments.
CT-800 and Wasp = SUPER
To have Slow .... perfect!
Hope that's OK for you that I wrote here this open letter in bad English.
But for the moment ...
Go Slow go ...
That will be a wonderful christmas months with a new Slow & Wasp in the still running tourney.
So many updates since the last tourney, many active programmers ... to create stats to the tourney will be very interesting!
Best
Frank
