I started getting cataracts when I was about 50 yo. Glasses do nothing for that condition. I got artificial lenses put in and now my vision is such that I do not need glasses. What I found out is that here in the US getting artificial lenses put in is elective surgery even if one does not have cataracts. All the eye surgeon needs to determine is whether artificial lenses would benefit a person and then one can have it done. One eye got a lense that sees far that I use for driving and the other eye got a lense for computer work. I had to ask for that or the lense for the computer would have been for reading. I can read just fine but I have to hold the print a little further away than normal.Rebel wrote:Well then, I had it basically right and don't need new glasses.

If you are on a sidewalk and the covid goes beep beep
Just step aside or you might have a bit of heat
Covid covid runs through the town all day
Can the people ever change their ways
Sherwin the covid's after you
Sherwin if it catches you you're through

Re: AlphaZero performance
Note that there must have been many more matches against Stockfish with the partially trained Alpha Zero, or they could not possibly know how many hours it took to surpass Stockfish. So it is likely the final 100-game match was just the last one of the periodic evaluation of training progress. And that the specific openings were tested only after that, with the Alpha Zero they now considered fully trained.
