Much too difficult

Post by Henk »

In this position I was thinking about half an hour during a real game. I could not decide what to play. Actually I almost wanted to resign because I could not make a decision.

First thought is night takes night followed by k-side pawn thrust, and queen to g8 perhaps, and Rd8 perhaps. And there might develope a king side attack.
Don't play Nxc2.

Of course I played Nc2: Fortunately my opponent did not free his queen quickly so I was still able to win. [He did not play Ne1 after the exchange but Be2 ? Although after Ne1 Rd2 apparently does not look good as well]

Perhaps chess is too difficult for me in long time control games.

I don't understand. Obviously, a simple reply to N:c2 would be Re1d1 before anything else.

I meant Rd1, Na1, Rd8, Rad8, Ne1, Rd2, Qe3

Position is very messed up, with both black and white pieces cramped up.. this really is the sort of situation you have to sit down and think for 15+ mins, especially since Nxc2 is on the air.

I should not have allowed Bc5 earlier in the game. Maybe I should include the whole game when I have time. Actually I forgot Bc5 for it was not possible even earlier.
