Hi Martin,

you await it in messages you wrote before if I remember ... means if a new ICE version is available you await a big jumping ... I too.

Programmer seems to work with a clearly system, you too!

BTW:
I am sure your engine is improved a lot since the last update?

Vajo, Fizbo, ice, Cheng, Deuterium, Smarthink (again) goes steady in the direction of TOP-20. The new front of TOP-20 ...

And all with a complete other way (playing style).

Since Cheng 4.39 is out a hard fight with Shredder 12 ...
Very similar playing strength.

regarding Cheng, no progress since 4.39 (I haven't worked on it at all to be honest, sorry to disappoint you).

If I should name a couple of engines I favor, that would be Dirty, Gaviota, iCE and Texel (in alphabetical order). I guess I forgot some so my apologies.

oh yes, the list of engines is much longer as I wrote before.

For around 4 years ...
BugChess and Chronos are out in new versions, both are very strong. And it was the latest versions ...

I am a big fan of BugChess at this time.
Engine have a nice style and is strong.
Graham put BugChess often in his stort tourneys. Honestly, I am looking at first on BugChess results ... not say that to the others.

Maybe later a new BugChess or Chronos version will be out.

Short tip:
Analyze later ... if my test-run with BugChess is ready ... the games between Cheng and BugChess ... I am sure very interesting games you will see.

Andscacs is just great, yes!
Programmer is full of ideas and a funny guy. Very friendly, nices messages by himself.

We should give him days with 72 hours if possible.
Not possible ...

Very nice engines, can understand if users say ... it's my favorite. I like it Andscacs too ... but unfortunately, too many updates. For a person working on a Rating List not easy to handle if too many updates are available. All the time is this a bigger problem.

My progress measurement is self play and very short time controls only so I have no real idea how many real ELO the new version gets. I rather avoid telling a number.

The ratings lists can perform those tests much better than me anyway I let them do it. And I'm thankful for that

I also really enjoy the competition with cheng since the days we met at Oliver's Chesswars.

I just pushed a new version (v3) of my recreational chess project iCE to my website. Sorry, still no SMP but should be somewhat stronger anyway.

Changes:

UCI Options Cleanup The UCI options of iCE are restructured and renamed. Details can be found here: http://macechess.blogspot.de/2015/07/ic ... tions.html
Multi PV support iCE is now supporting Multi PV mode.
Bugfix The ponder protocol implementation is fixed. In Shredder GUI it did not work.
Evaluation: A bit of weight tuning was perfromed. However most changes failed or had only minor impact.
Search Changes: iCE 2 added History Heuristics, Late Move Pruning, Razoring and Counter Move Heuristics. For iCE 3 I optimized the conditions a bit further to make smarter pruning decisions.
Books: I finally touched my book code again. It was necessary as the books contained some errors coming from changes to the internal move format. I also improved the book building framework to use perfromance data of iCE in certain lines.
Time Management: I changed the algorithm for time allocation to not use all available time on the last move before TC.
