1) The trailing a1a1 in the pv has been removed and I tested analyze mode in Arena 3.5. It works fine now.
Yes this works now.
2) The UCI_ShowCurrLine issue is not an issue. Years ago I turned off showing current line until 10 ply. Basically, it is a way to speed up analysis mode on fast computers. All that extra info in the early plies seems a waste.
This is still not working. In arena this feature is good if UCI_Refutations is implemented and enabled, because the normal pv will not be shown in the engine window but is replaced by refutation lines, so what we see in the arena engine window are refutation lines and below it is the currline. If UCI_refutations is not enabled, we will see the normal pv lines, and currline is almost not required.

So, new versions have been uploaded to aigames.net. I left the version number the same due to only a one character change in the code.
Another thing I noticed regarding this updated version, when you send the command go infinite the time is not probably reported well. The time 0 persist till depth 11.

Fern,

Your wish was my command. The 32 bit version is online at the web site. I tested it quickly on Windows 7 and Vista 32 bit.

Let me know what you think.

Fern,

Do you like the program?
It has a benchmark built in, so you can test the speed of your computer.
Bring up a cmd box and cd to the directory you have the engine and type
Ares1-005-32.exe -bench -fd 12
This runs a small benchmark at a fixed depth of 12 ply.
It returns something like the following:

Code: Select all

Time Interior Nodes Quiesce Nodes Total Nodes NPS
    4500 4629469 4347173 8976642 1994000
Leaf Interior Nodes searched = 430351
Transposition Table Hits 167943 Misses 2037397 Ratio = 7
Pawn misses 516766 Pawn attempts 5728134 Pawn miss rate = 9.02154
Your NPS number is the performance mark.

Yes, Charles, I like it a lot. I think it has potential to many more features. It pains me to see good engines just in bare clothes, without all the may things that could and should acompany it.
Like what?
Well, its own GUI with featiures like different levels of playhing, talk, comments, etc.a hug
