Just recently picked up development on Mediocre again, after a couple years hiatus.
Should result in a new version in the near future.
Blogging again so if you want to follow my stumbling progress, the site is still:

Jonatan, how about this:
I can't imagine you will stumble,
But it's nice you are humble.
Not bad, huh!
Seriously, glad to hear the news.

Maybe you need to rename your engine to, "well, it's kinda decent, actually".

Re: Blog back on track (Mediocre engine)
Thank you all for your kind words.
The reason for my hiatus was my complete and utter incapability of improving Mediocre even a few rating points. Everything I did, even seemingly theoretically sound ideas, either made no noticeable difference or severely hurt the performance.
Somehow Mediocre v0.34 became impossible for me to improve on, even though I knew there should be hundreds of rating points still to be gained.
Well, scrapping the entire search and starting over is my approach this time, as a first stage. Let's hope it turns out well.

Don't tell me, I know the feeling! My experience is that it comes from important bugs (especially in the TT).Zlaire wrote:Thank you all for your kind words.
