Even if the first official version will not be stronger than than TSCP I would gladly test it against engines not stronger than 2050, e.g. Micro-Max, Rival, Smash, Bam-Bam, Heracles, Warrior, Clueless, Roce, Dabbaba, Beaches, Chenard, Adamant, TSCP.
I always welcome engines at that end of the list and I am sure a lot of engine authors will welcome your engines as a new challenge.
Hi Gabor,

Thanks, that's what I'm hoping with this release of my engine! Weak chess programs, near the bottom of the ranking, are very usefull to help monitoring the progress of new engines. So I think it's a good idea to release early, even if there is still a lot of stuff to improve.

The more games my engine will play and the more bugs I will be able to catch and correct. And if it become stronger in the future releases it will be nice to see where I started. But at the moment this is not important, learning how to write a decent chess program is very interesting and also a lot of fun and I'm focusing on that!

My cutoff point is that they must be 2000+ ELO based on CCRL ratings.
As Reger 0.09 is around that level, I use it as a test engine against which to measure the newbies.

I tried out six new engines - Betsabe II 1.0, Bubble 1.5, JaksaH 1.10, Purplehaze 2.0.0, Revati 0.4c and Supra 1.1.
Hi Graham !

Would be nice to see in CCRL rating list a nice engine of Andrea Griffini-Italy ! Is over Soldat 0.25 in my tests. So , around 2.000 ELO points. Plays very well in tournaments. It's a nice tactic engine !
GChessIV 0.2.0 is its name. Here is the site:

Hi Ruxy,

GChess is indeed stronger than Reger.
I'll also include Chaturanga, Monik and BSC in my lowest division. :)

Graham.

I'm glad that Gabor will test Purplehaze. :)

It's possible to test more engines at the CCRL 40/4 time control than at the 40/40, taking into account that an engine requires 200+ games in order to establish itself in our lists.
That's the only reason that I currently restrict my testing to engines that are 2000+ ELO for the 40/40 list.

Cheers,
Graham.

Both are single processor, no-ponder engines. Jazz is UCI or XBoard, Sjaak is XBoard only. When I release them, both of them will be GPL. I can make a Win32 compile if I can borrow the Windows netbook for a few minutes, but both engines would really benefit from a 64 bit compile (they use bitboards).
Hi Evert!

Great news, I've been looking forward to your release of Jazz for a long time now. :-)

Like Graham, Purple Haze caught my eye since I am a huge Hendrix
fan. I am glad that Gabor is going to test it. If for some reason he does
not, then I will.

One goal of mine is to increase the number of engines at the lower
end of the CCRL 40/4 lists. It would be benefical to new authors.

Hi Ruxy,

I made a long list of engines not on the CCRL lists, so that I could test
them and get them included. I forgot about GChessIV. It is helpful to us
that you and others mention engines like GChessIV, so that they can
be included in our testing.

Thank You,

Adam

Thanks Evert. I can't wait for you to share them. Perhaps you could get
Jim Ablett or Dann Corbit to compile 64 bit versions for you.
