a new Open Source Web UI for Crafty

Post by ornicar »

Hello,

I'm having fun developing a Chess user interface for the web: http://lichess.org
It will always be free and open source, and will never contain advertisement. It's not a commercial project, I make it for love of programming and Chess.

It requires no registration, nor flash.

I hope to get some feedback from you. Do you like it?

The nice-looking I've seen so far!
Great!
p.s. Would you add "alpha" or other chess fonts/bitmaps?

Thanks!

If you have suggestions of any kind, feature requests or bug reports, I'm eager to read them.

Oh and the source code is here: http://github.com/ornicar/lichess

On my first game vs. Crafty I somehow got it stuck. After a midgame move, my piece got planted on its dest square, with src & dest highlighted green, but it was still my turn. It never accepted further input.
I haven't been able to reproduce the problem though.

Thanks for the bug report.
I'll try to reproduce and fix it.
Waiting for the fix, if you encounter this bug again, just reload the page and everything will gona be fine.
May I ask you which browser you used?

Should have mentioned I was using Chrome (6.0.427.0 dev, Linux x86_64).
I've tried literally everything I could think of to reproduce, with no luck. Only thing I can think of now is, keep playing and ignore the report for now. :)

Played level 1 game.

Does not seem to recognise repetition rule. Able to go back and forth many times. No acknowledgement of a draw.

Like the board's feel and visuals.

Thanks for the feedback!

I added the repetition rule to the feature requests: http://lichess.uservoice.com/forums/624 ... ?ref=title
I will probably implement it soon

There are some other interesting ideas in the uservoice.
