I think that these endless debates about the status of Robo as a clone continue in part because the references to what has been said and any candidate evidence gets lost in the mountains of thread conversations.
Perhaps we should create a sticky that could be updated by moderators with a compilation of the most credible statements about the Robo problem. The members of this forum would contribute by pointing to evidence from previous threads and by proposing information to be considered for addition to the sticky.
Some ideas of things for this sticky:
Vas's original quote where he stated something about Robo looking like a clone.
Larry Kaufman's quotes about the topic, such as his statement about the evaluation tables.
Any notable research about similarities/differences in the eval. For example, I think it was noted that both Rybka and Robo have a different eval function for white and for black, which is unusual and interesting.
Etc, etc.
Regards

Gack! No, it would just be a waste of board space. No one ever reads stickies anyhow...

Yeah, you're right. It would be better to continue in the current mode of endlessly providing information that gets lost in the shuffle so that we can promote emotional discussions filled with speculation and opinions.Dirt wrote:Gack! To me it looks like people on both sides basically repeat the same stuff over and over.... and over.
In retrospect, I can see that getting involved was a complete waste of my time, both reading and writing.

Yes, exactly. So my idea is that creating a sticky to maintain some kind of focal point for information may help circumvent the endless spinning.bnemias wrote:To me it looks like people on both sides basically repeat the same stuff over and over.... and over.
