What i was asking you was when you were running BBChess 1.2, did it have the benefit of access to egbb. I couldnt make it access them, but i figured out that i have to have the egbb folder in the engine folder- as that is the path in parameters. Now it is using the egbb fine. But i very much thank you for taking the time to answer me. Best of luck with your testing.

Hi George,
I'm sure that BBChess 1.2 doens't use egbb in this tournament.
When you use the console mode you obtain this output:

Hi George,
I'm sure that BBChess 1.2 doens't use egbb in this tournament.
When you use the console mode you obtain this output:
info egbb (.\egbb\egbbdll.dll) not loaded!
info book (.\performance.bin) not loaded
egbbdll.dll is not in the archive.

Patrick
You are correct. You get what you describe if you run the exe. To make it access the egbb you need Scorpios egbb folder which contain the dll and the egbb files. And the folder needs to be in the BBChess engine folder. But im not sold on actually how much they increase overall strength anyway.
My egbb files are located in c:\egbb\. BBChess uses egbbs after I added the following lines in polyglot.ini :
Bitbases Path = c:\egbb\
Bitbases Cache Size = 32
There is certainly a way to set this up in the UCI interfaces.

You are right, Olivier. The only reason i put the egbb folder in the BBChess folder was because in parameters that is the path for them to be picked up- not in C drive unless you alter it in parameters. You can actaually make the path whatever you want in parameters. BTW, thanks to you and Patrick both for the wonderful contributions you make to computer chess.
