Explanation
The forum is being moved onto a new server.Werner wrote:I do not see the newest postings when not logged in (starting internet explorer an choosing this forum).

Quentin posted an announcement stating that several days worth of posts might be lost in the process and that members should back them up if they wanted to repost them after the move was complete.

Re: Problem with forum, try the other one
Wow, not only the posts are disappearing. It seems two forums are now functioning independently at the same time!

This is very unprofessional course of action.
The correct order of events would be:
1. An nnouncement about planned server move, with expected downtime period. Posted at least two weeks before the move. Also with exact times specified in UTC.
2. Some tests - moving the forum over to new host just to try that it works. Test forums on new hosts don't get public.
3. At announced date and time the old forum is shut down.
4. Database and forum are transfered over to the new host. (Procedure that you know will work based on test transfer).
5. New forum goes online. Old forum never goes online again.
This would prevent a lot of confusion and leave much better impression.

Re: Problem with forum, try the other one
It's not all that bad, because the forums don't operate independantly. If you try to post a new subject on the old forum you automatically end up on the new one. I have not tried if it is still possible to reply in a thread that is missing here, but I suppose that soon won't be possible anymore if it still is allowed now. Now if only there was a way to transfer the missing threads over to the new forum, we would not need the old link anymore, but for now we can at least save the missing threads for ourselves.
