SUN 15 MPV archive?

Post by Dann Corbit »

Does anyone have the Sun 15 MPV archive with source code?
My folder with that engine accidentally got deleted and I can't find a backup.

Hi Dann, hope you can see this and download? (Dropbox was not being very userfriendly to me, upload time was about 5 minutes and I'm not sure you can actually download now?) Please try it.

are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Thanks, that worked fine.
I would have thanked you earlier but the latest Micosoft Update for Windows 11 essentially bricked my PC.
Just got it working again after two days.
The symptom was that the keyboard and mouse were no longer recognized. Safe mode did not help, because the keyboard was not recognized so I could not get there.
Turns out that my Plantronics headset (very expensive) is no longer compatible with Windows 11 at boot time.
As long as I unplug the headset, I can boot. And I can even plug it in after booting.
I sent a message to (what used to be Plantronics, now they have a new name) them to see if there are any drivers updates.
I have to have that headset for work, so it is a bloody nuisance.

Hi Dann, that does not sound too good, a headphone driver breaking Windows 11 :(. I had heard of problems with Windows 11 audio drivers before but probably that was not very related. But I think it is usually Windows itself that is causing the problems, with pretty much untested, or under par, updates. But you can not really avoid the updates when you also have to be online, for your work for instance in your case. I always try to delay having to shutdown the computer for updating new Windows, that saves a few days. I am still with Windows 10, here in the EU you get a bit longer the safety updates. Don't know if that is possible in US. Audio is important for me, just for music. My Sennheiser headphones do not really need drivers I just plug it in in old green audio output channel just using the Intel chip analog output going to the external transmitter. But with a microphone that would not be possible and with Bluetooth (other headphones I have also expensive) you also are dependent on the computer drivers for the Bluetooth for instance.

The analog output from just onboard Intel is pretty good for a cheapskate Dell. And I do have stereo speakers of good quality now but the neighbours will not be appreciative I am afraid. So I try to stay away from buying even more ampifiers from the eighties although I really love what is coming on the market. A lot of people a bit older than me try to move out of their houses I think because they can get better care for instance in an apartment, house prices go through the roof here. And in apartment you usually can not place 120W Cambridge amplifiers and big KEFs. Only to look at, maybe play one record per day.

So I'd rather buy a new computer :)

Am even thinking about a 'new' Windows 10 machine deliberately to avoid the upgrade to Windows 11. For a while anyway.
